Action from the 2007 Spencer Cup Final at Sandylands. Thornton skipper Jack Laycock lifts the Cup and Matt Haines backs up Adam Yates during the winning knock of 166

Haworth West End claimed their first UAJCL Trophy taking the Raleigh Hargreaves Cup for Under-15s against Skipton on 8th July. They have now also completed a double by taking the Second Division of the Johnson & Johnson Championship.
Skipton under-13s who retained the John Hindle Cup in a last over thriller against Earby at Skipton on 15th July before the rains. Yet another double as Skipton also win the Brook Taverner Championship for a second successive year.

After one of the wettest cricket season's in living memory, UAJCL reveals yet another record number of matches were played in 2007. The total was 371, up 19 from 2006.

Team Manager's worked wonders in coping with the atrocious weather and 39 replays were managed. The final abandonment total was 71, up 44 from 2006.

The Brook Taverner u-13 League was hit hardest with 27 not played whilst the u-11 CartaSport League rode the storm best with 11. The u-11 managers managed to get 16 rained-off matches re-arranged and cannot be praised too highly in ensuring cricket for our youngsters. Other replay rates were 3 out of 16 (u-17), 15 out of 31 (u-15) and 5 out of 32 at u-13 level.

Sponsors

The UAJCL would once again sincerely like to extend the gratitude of all its officials, clubs and players to their sponsors for 2007. Without their exceptional generosity the League would not be able to function.

If you are interested in sponsoring any of our age groups or competitions for future years please contact the Secretary:derekhurren@googlemail.com
