She surpassed this in 2005 in the first Test against Australia at Hove, when she made her first Test hundred. Brindle has picked up the Best Batsman Award at the Frizzell County Championships two years in a row, helping Lancashire to gain promotion in 2001. Also an outstanding fielder, she made her debut for England in the ODI Series against South Africa, which England won 3-2. She played boys' cricket for Thornton-in-Craven from the age of 12. She has also played football and tennis. Brindle won local council Best Sportsperson Award in 1998 for her county and national selection. She studied PE and Sports Science at Loughborough University, graduating in 2003 and was married the same year. Selected for the World Cup squad for South Africa, 2005.
