COMMENTARY Wharfedale Stags confirmed their second place in the Pro Coach Academy League with a 30-run win at relegated Gargrave. The Stags 77-7 though wasn’t a difficult target despite Ben Schindler’s 35. Carl Tetley’s 3-11 was the major factor but he was upstaged by Sam Stockdale who starred with 4-6 in the Gargrave 47-8. A gallant 8-man Sutton arrived at Champions Oakworth and could not disturb their unbeaten march with 47-7, held up by Lewis Wrathall 3-18. Matty Lee completed his best season with another 21 in the winning 52-3. Haworth West End completed their poor season with just 74-7 at Glusburn as only Jack Middleton 35 claimed any kudos. Jack Roberts 3-10 was a tormentor and Chris Wademan 33 completed the task at 77-4. Yorkshire ‘B’ Matthew Price led Bradley with 35 in their 99-1 and all their bowlers helped limit the Wharfedale Rams response to 81-8. Pendle Forest consolidated their third place with a hard fought 31-run win at Haworth. Joel Duerden 35 and James Ridehalgh 29 were principal contributors to 127-5 despite 3-10 from Carlton Beanland. The Haworth reply had most batsmen make a start but none went on and they concluded on 96-5. Denholme became Division Two Champions with a brace of wins against new side Bradford & Bingley. At wagon lane they made 119-5 with top guns Callum Gerrard 36 and Andy Wear 35. Matthew Keaton’s 36 shone out as the new boys struggled to 64-8 (Matthew Wear 3-8). At Denholme the scores were 127-4 and 58-7. Andy Wear again made 35 but this time had support from Alasdair Gerrard on 36. Top bowler was Jack Rogers with 3-4. A year or two back Ingrow compelled Earby to Division two with a shock win but this time with Earby on 126-1 a win proved too challenging. Jake Hargraeves 36 and Kyle Horn 35 ensured no slip-ups and Mason Naylor 3-4 kept the struggling, young Keighley side at 48 all out. |
