| Ingrow | After entry
in 2008 at under-15, the Ingrow club had expectation of progress at under-17
but despite 4 wins they finished 5th of the 6 teams. There is cause for
optimism though as two of those wins were against promotion hopefuls Bingley
Congs and Gargrave. Eventual winners Embsay ensured their Cup campaign
didn't last long. Danny Fazackerley was a
success story as a bowler with 15 wickets at just over 10 and fifth place in
the league. The under-15 side lost five matches to the weather but gained 2 wins (Pendle Forest and Bingley Congs) from the other 7. A Cup hammering from Bradley though didn't reflect their progress. Jason Roberts added solid batsman-ship to his excellent wicket-keeping and he claimed 10th place in the league list. |
Oakworth![]() ![]() |
Oakworth
Sharks under-11 team found the going harder than many expected. Pairs
cricket was something of a curb on the talents of the strong top 4 batsmen
but the season suffered from failure to take enough wickets. The wins came
against Silsden, Skipton and Bradley (twice) to finish 6th, 4 points clear
of relegation. Cup cricket was altogether a different kettle of fish and
after batsman-led wins against Cullingworth, Skipton and Silsden they
reached the Final against Oxenhope. A last-ball decider went the way of
Oxenhope to leave Sharks as runners up in their seventh Final in 8 years.
Ben Weatherall led the batters with 75 runs and
10th place. After the all-conquering 2008, a fourth place finish was a good conclusion for a young under-13 team, which achieved 7 wins and 7 defeats. Steeton, Settle and Skipton all succumbed in their defence of the Hindle Cup but a disappointing display in the Final allowed Wharfedale Stags to take the trophy. James Lee, George Ingham, Jack Keighley, Oliver Huck & Ben Howell all made the batting standard but there were none in the bowling list. The under-15s lost to Oxenhope and Earby but still finished ahead of the pair to take the Division Two title after relegation in 2008. 1,255 runs showed a fair batting pedigree and four Lewis Wrathall, Jack Davison, Matty Lee and Ben Fothergill made the league list of 10. Wrathall made the bowling list and finished 2nd in the Cricketer-of-the-Year award. He was headed by team mate Jack Davison who took his 3rd such award to match the record of Tom Stead. Skipton, Bradley and Upper Wharfedale were all beaten on the way to a disastrous Cup Final which went to Pendle Forest, the clubs third Final loss. The under-17s too had a second successive excellent year finishing runner-up to Sutton. Nine wins topped the 3 defeats to Sutton, Embsay and Skipton whilst their Cup exit came in a losing 'double-header' with Sutton. Skipper Jack Hainsworth had 4th place in the batting whilst Luke Taylor and Brannan Lawn also made the mark. Michael Clegg took 17 wickets to end the year as third best bowler in the League. |
Oxenhope

Defending Champions Oxenhope once again found the right formula and took a second successive CartaSport Championship. There was just one defeat (Wharfedale Stags) and 12 wonderful wins, most very comfortably. Six batsmen Lewis Hopkinson, Edward Jackson, Reece Webb-Foster, Tom Addison, Liam Colgan and Callum Holmes all made the batting lists and not surprisingly they set a new league record runs scored total of 1,185. With most of the above and Kieran Lambert also making the bowling lists their dominance was complete. The also reached their first Barritt-Stephenson Cup Final, seeing off Denholme and Earby en-route to a thrilling Final with rivals Oakworth. Oxenhope won the Cup with a boundary from the last ball and made it a terrific treble with a first Malsis Festival win. Tom Addison went on to star for the District side and pipped skipper Hopkinson to the Cricketer-of-the-Year prize. Best of the rest in third place in the Brook Taverner League was also a fine season for the under-13 side. Seven wins though was well shy of the top two. Cup wins against Glusburn, Earby (just) and Sutton led to a semi-final loss to ultimate winners Wharfedale Stags. There were batting qualifiers in Liam Humphreys, Ben Addison and Spencer Mawer with Connor Mahon in with the top bowlers. The only team in UAJCL 2009 to remain unbeaten was Oxenhope u-15s but 4 rained off matches allowed Oakworth to pinch the Division Two title as both Worth Valley sides gained straight-back promotion. A major element in their success was the batting of Tom Marshall who took the league batting prize. There was no Cup progression after a 1st round defeat to Earby. Having been one of the two teams to dominate under-17s cricket in the last 5-6 years this year proved their worst in UAJCL with relegation after only 3 wins. The wins came against Upper Wharfedale, Haworth WE and Steeton but 9 defeats left them 9 points adrift of safety. Their sad season was complete with a 'loss on a toss' in the Spencer Cup. Joseph Ousey finished 3rd best batsman and had backing from James Marshall but not for the first time they were let down by the bowling which took just 61 wickets. |
Pendle Forest![]() |
With two
teams in Division Two the Forest had every opportunity to find a strong
team. By season's end they did indeed and after wins against First Division
sides Embsay, Settle and Earby, they comprehensively overcame a below-par
Oakworth in the final at Silsden and took a first
Raleigh Hargreaves Cup. The
league form proved inconsistent as the 'B' team took 5 wins and the 'A' team
just 2. Joel Duerden was in 8th place in the
league batting lists. Four wins for the under-13s kept them in the top Division in fifth place. The wins were against Embsay (twice), Oxenhope and Oakworth. After defeating Cowling they came up against ultimate winners Wharfedale Stags in round 2 of the Hindle Cup. Joseph Ryland proved a qualifier in the batting but there were none in the bowling as a pointer for the coaches. |
