GLITTERING PRIZES

This year's event was again held at the Keighley Rugby Union Club with unprecedented numbers turning out for UAJCL's own 'Oscars Night' to celebrate the successes of the 2007 season. The League Championship trophies were awarded to Oxenhope, Earby, Skipton, Pendle Forest, Steeton, Haworth West End and Steeton. The Barritt-Stephenson, Raleigh Hargreaves and William Spencer Cups were re-presented to the winners. The evening progressed through to awards for batting, bowling, wicket-keeping and fielding before each age group Cricketer of the Year was announced.......

UAJCL President Richard Smith welcomed an estimated 350 people including sponsors and officials, sadly this year unsupported by Yorkshire CCC. Richard referred to the extended atrocious weather this season but which did not prevent UAJCL achieving yet another record number of fixtures played He led gracious thanks for our Sponsors Cricketcoachingmats.com, CartaSport Leisure, Brook Taverner, Johnson & Johnson and The Keighley Cup Committee for their continued invaluable financial support.

The following pictures were sadly affected by the enhanced lighting conditions and consequently are not up to our usual standards.

2007 UAJCL Presentation Night - The Championship Winning Teams

The second season of under-9s cricket in UAJCL featured 9 teams (6 in 2006) and this time the boys from Oxenhope took the Championship by the narrowest run-rate margin from rivals Oakworth. Both teams finished with 7 wins and 21 points. Their Trophy was presented by David Cooper from cricketcoachingmats.com

Earby u-11s took the Championship and the Barritt-Stephenson Cup for 2007. They pipped Skipton for the title late in the season and overcame Upper Wharfedale to lift the Cup in July. They received their Cups and mementoes from UAJCL Life Member Tom Barritt.

The under-13s Championship was taken for a second successive year by Skipton, who set the pace and held off the challenge of Oakworth. They went on to take the John Hindle Cup also for a second year after a thrilling last-over, last pair Final  with Earby.
The under-13s Second Division Championship was retained for the Red Rose by Pendle Forest who claimed the title in tremendous style winning the League by 12 points from Skipton. It is a great achievement for the new team in their inaugural season in UAJCL.
A terrific three-way battle with Oakworth and Upper Wharfedale was finally won by Steeton under 15s. They annexed the League Championship but were ejected from the Raleigh Hargreaves Cup competition by Second Division Skipton.
An amazing season for Haworth West End brought them an unbeaten Second Division Championship and the Raleigh Hargreaves Cup after overcoming Skipton in the first all-Second Division Final. It was a revenge win after most of the side had lost to the same opposition in the 2006 Hindle Cup Final.
The nail-biting finish to the 2007 u-17 campaign went to the final week with firstly Thornton-in-Craven and then Embsay falling by the wayside leaving Steeton as 2007 Champions of the Keighley Cup2000 League.
Thornton-in-Craven were disappointed at their failure to win the League Championship but they took pleasure in taking the William Spencer Cup after an entertaining match with Bolton Abbey, which was eventually staged on 19th August after two rained-off attempts.
