COMMENTARY

Cononley’s 123-3 featured a stylish 54 from Freddie Pearson and 34 from Billy Pinder. Opponents Skipton rose to the challenge and Keir Nelson racked up 51 to become the League’s leading run-scorer for 2010. Skipton made 124-4 in comfort with 3 overs in hand. Leading scorer Joe Bottomley led the Haworth West End batting with 37 against neighbours Oakworth in a team total of 100-7. Jack Davison kept the West Enders in check with 3-12 before Matty Lee 39 and Ben Fothergill 37 paved the way for two towering sixes from Lewis Wrathall to win the match.

Whilst Steeton had already pipped Bingley Congs to promotion their meeting proved an entertaining, close match. Congs’ Clark Lydon picked up another 3 wickets to join Andy Wear (Denholme) as the League’s new record holder with a season tally of 29. Steeton top order took the brunt but Jake Hill 29 led the middle order to a team total of 117-9. The Congs chase was solid but closed on 108-4, 9 adrift. For Denholme Andy Wear picked up the one wicket he needed to break the League bowling record but even his 45 runs couldn’t prevent visitors Glusburn from taking the spoils. James McDonald 3-22 limited the Dynamoes to 96-7 before run-machine Chris Wademan with 52 led his Glusburn team to 97-6 in 18.5 overs. Haworth’s visit to Lancashire proved fruitful as their 121-6 showcased by James Reynoldson 51 was a step too far for Pendle Forest. Tom Webb 35 and Liam Cowgill fought hard for the Red Rose but the total reached just 105-9 as Carlton Beanland returned 3-26.
